FRANKLIN SQUARE HOSPITAL KICKS OFF THE NEW PATIENT CARE TOWER Franklin Square Hospital announced the kickoff of the funding campaign for the new $175 million dollar 7 story ”Patient Care Tower”. When complete it will add 356,000 square feet to the existing 550,000 square feet and include expanded emergency department facilities with a new 50 bed critical care unit. The new tower will contain 291 new private inpatient rooms and will increase the hospitals capacity to 378 beds. These private rooms are to be “oversized” to allow for “Sleepover” possibilities. Comfort and family space were key factors in the development process for these rooms. With more families and businesses moving to this region the population that Franklin Square serves is likely to reach over 550,000 within the next 10 years. It’s expected that the regions population will be dominated by adults over the age of 45 Along with the steady increase in the demand for specialty services such as thoracic surgery, cancer care, and joint replacement came the need for a new facility This year, the hospital will admit more than 30,000 patients and treat more than 200,000 outpatients, making it the third business hospital in Maryland. The emergency department will treat more than 100,000 patients, making it the busiest in the state. As new residents of eastern Baltimore County our Hopewell Pointe buyers can take comfort in knowing that one of the best Hospitals in the nation is close to home.
