“NEW FIRE CODE HAS SOME POSITIVES FOR HOPEWELL POINTE
BUYERS”
Baltimore County Council Bill 49-07
became effective on July 15, 2007 and changed the Baltimore County Building
Code. For the Buyers at Hopewell Pointe II the new code translated into two
major changes in fire safety.
The new code now requires the entire
attic of the building to have a sprinkler system. This change expands the
fire coverage within a building from the decks, individual condominium
units, and lobby to the attic as well. It was not required under the prior
code.
The second change requires the cavity
between floor truss systems on each floor to be filled completely with 16”
of insulation acting as a fire stop. Prior to the code change the cavity
could not be completely filled.
These changes not only provide added
fire protection but also offer other side benefits as well.
